LENA MAE McDANIEL
Lena Mae McDaniel, 82, of Hume, died at 3:20 a.m. Dec. 8, 2004 at Paris Community Hospital.
Mrs. McDaniel was born March 4, 1922, in Divide, Ill., to Alan and Mary Parrish Butler and was a longtime Hume resident. She was a housewife and devoted all of her life to her family.
Mrs. McDaniel enjoyed gardening and traveling. She especially enjoyed spending the winter in Florida and enjoyed her trip to Oracoke Island in North Carolina.
On Jan. 28, 1941, she was married to Raymond K. McDaniel, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mary (Jack) Baird of Indianola and Alice (Gary) Anderson of Clinton, Ind.; three sons, Bill (Suzy) McDaniel of Sullivan, Chuck (Cindy) McDaniel of Paris and David McDaniel of Ellenton, Fla.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Duncan, Addison, Austin, Macy and Jaylynn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; on brother, William Butler; a sister, Edna and half-sister, Hattie.
Funeral services were Dec. 13 at Scott-Bolen-DeVries Funeral Home in Chrisman. Pastor Jarrett Wells officiated. Internment was at Young America Cemetery near Hume.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

FORREST G. RICHARDS
Forrest G. Richards, 87, of Hume died at 6:30 a.m. Dec. 10, 2004 at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman.
Mr. Richards was born June 15, 1917 in Orchardsville, son of Ray and Eva Deny Richards. He married Maxine Eastin Feb. 22, 1940 in Longview. She survives.
Also surviving is one son, Ernie (Nancy) Richards of Metcalf.
Mr. Richards was a farmer having farmed in the area all of his life. He was a member of the Sidell Baptist Church, the Hume Masonic Lodge, the Sidell Lions Club and the Edgar County Farm Bureau.
Services were Dec. 13 at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery north of Newman. The Rev. Richard Wamsley officiated.
Memorials may be made to the Sidell Baptist Church.

RAYMOND W. SAWYER
Raymond W. Sawyer, 86, of Oakwood died at 1:14 p.m. Dec. 8, 2004 at Provena USMC, Logan campus.
Mr. Sawyer was born April 30, 1918, in Sidell, the son of Willis and Lulu M. Tatman Sawyer. He married Wilda R. VanAllen July 7, 1940, and she preceded him in death Feb. 5, 2004.
Surviving are one son, Monte (Bobbie) Sawyer of Williamsport, Ind.; daughters, Karen Williams of Oakwood and Diana (Tim) Haggerty of Bowling Green, Ky.; brothers, Gene (Charlene) Sawyer of Catlin and Clifford (Judy) Sawyer of Georgetown; a sister, Louise Kilian of Broadlands; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Sawyer was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Mr. Sawyer was a truck driver and farmer and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a graduate of Sidell High School and a member of the Oakwood American Legion Post #601. He enjoyed watching and feeding the squirrels and birds and building birdhouses. He was very particular about his lawn. He enjoyed old Western movies.
Services were Dec. 10 at Johnson-Lakeside Funeral Chapel in Oakwood. Burial was at Steams Chapel in Oakwood. Military rites were by the Danville American Legion Post #210.

   Ethel Salrin, 96, of Fairmount died at 12:47 p.m. Dec. 3, 2004, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Danville.

   Richard L. "Jake" Taylor, 66, of Indianola, passed away 12:34 p.m. Dec. 4, 2004 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, Logan campus in Danville.
